About Us

Short Circuit began in November 2022 as part of a hobby community project called the Feedback Loop. The intention of both initiatives was to bring miniature painters together in a predominantly digital world where algorithms and trends tend to work against you. Short Circuit seeks to go against the grain, embrace when energy flows in nontraditional paths.

Rae (@RaeRah) and Shelby (@keystoneminis), two beginner miniature painters who quickly became hobby enthusiasts, met through the efforts of Short Circuit. After countless nights gaming on Discord with fellow painters, community hobby hangouts in voice chats, and Short Circuit Miniature Painting competitions, they noticed that there were a few things missing in the hobby.

The variety of miniature busts felt a little redundant with the same trite fantasy characters all blending into each other. Additionally, many of the unique busts new to the market required ordering from a third-party 3D print service, often with mixed results and inconsistencies in quality. Order processing time can be excessive with missing and/or broken parts a common occurrence. Furthermore, cast resin busts are rare in the United States. There aren't many sculptors, and not many casters. Therefore, cast busts tend to be incredibly expensive without even factoring in the international shipping costs.

We wanted unique busts and we wanted quality. We wanted a complete and affordable product that you could just pick up and go with. We wanted to package the joy we find in miniature painting in a box and share it with new hobbyists to painting enthusiasts to professionals alike. From these dreams, Short Circuit Miniatures LLC was born!
